The 38 week mark has come and gone and we are anxiously awaiting our little bundle of joy. I haven’t wanted to purchase many fall maternity clothes since I won’t be pregnant for the whole season so I was so excited when the very helpful sales girl at Nordstrom took me around to find some pregnancy friendly clothing. This Free People top is great for covering the bump now, but will be even better in the future with leather leggings and a pair of heels. She also recommended this Bobeau sweater that I have been living in and will be perfect for nursing along with this Caslon zip sweater. Hopefully my next post will feature an adorable baby boy:)

Once we found out we were expecting a little one, we decided that it was time to turn our unused basement into a playroom and extra living area. After spending hours searching Houzz for inspiration, we knew that we wanted the space to be bright, eclectic, and most of all fun:) It all started with this wallpaper (pictures below), which led to choosing Poppy Red by Valspar to really make the space pop! The living room half of the basement is made up furniture from Ikea, a vintage chair, and a bold striped rug. I am really loving how the pillows bring it all together, especially the Happy Home one from Tiny Prints (who knew they had home decor?!?). The other half of the basement has been left relatively empty because it will soon be cluttered with toys and baby gear, but we can’t to fill up the bookshelf and watch Baby B draw on the chalk wall. We are really looking forward to putting this brand new space to good use!

Ever since we found out we were having a baby boy, I have wanted to stay away from “traditional” boy themes (baby blue, bears, and sports). For our Chicago couples shower, we went with a color scheme of mint, gold, gray, and neon yellow. Our super adorable cake was from Alliance Bakery and the flowers were from Steve’s Flower Market. My sister-in-law suggested that we have a taquiza (which I had never heard of before), but it was an amazing idea. Taqueria Don Robe brought in everything- including the grill and the food was fantastic! It was an amazing day filled with lots of love:) We can’t wait to meet this little one soon.Invite from Minted
With only 6 weeks until Baby Boy Barriga’s arrival, I thought I would share pictures from my baby shower my mom threw me in Michigan. I was so happy my besties from Ohio could make it up for the weekend- it had been way too long since I saw them! This lil’ man was showered with so much love and came out with some adorable homemade onesies. I will be sharing photos from our Chicago shower later this week:)

Since the temps in Chicago are still in the 80′s, I can’t fully dive into fall fashion- but I couldn’t resist putting on my brand new Sole Society booties. Paired with a radiant orchid dress and a fresh new shorter haircut, it feels like Fall is just around the corner!
I’m excited to share the next room on our home tour! Our living room is right off our front door and the most formal room in our house. I wanted it to have a mid-century modern feel with pops of color and be a great space for entertaining. The bar was a wedding present from my parents and we used it at our place in Chicago just for storage. Although I personally haven’t enjoyed a drink from the bar (I found out I was pregnant 6 days after we moved in), it has been a so nice to finally open it up and put it to use!Gold pouf from Etsy, Gray Malin Prada Marfa print, Thrifted buffet from Randolph Street Market
Ever since I found out I was pregnant I have been waiting for the cravings to kick in. Much to my dismay it really hasn’t happened yet, except for my new found love with breakfast. I was searching online for a french toast recipe and The Huffington Post claimed that this is The Only French Toast Recipe You’ll Ever Need and man are they right. The recipe from Martha Stewart takes longer than your normal french toast recipe, but it is so worth the wait. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did! And as a bonus- they actually reheat really well:)
