Not only am I head over heels in love with this little boy who came into our world eight weeks ago, but I also love the space we created for him. When we started planning Beckett’s room, we knew we wanted to stay away from anything traditional and create a fun, unique space that he could grow into. The inspiration really started from this hipster wallpaper from Spoonflower and the neon yellow heart blanket from Yarning Made. From there we created a gallery wall that featured the Gilded Love metallic print from Tiny Prints, a few DIY items and a couple of fun prints and the space really came alive. It has become my favorite room in the house!West Elm glider, Moroccan rug, Ikea bookshelfWhistle and Flute hatGeometric Diamond Lantern, Yarning Made blanket, Land of Nod Neon Nightstand, West Elm lampOh Dier custom Beckett sign, Freshly Picked Moccasins You Are My Greatest Adventure Print, And Then There Were Three printRH baby pillow
Even though we already welcomed our sweet baby boy, I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from our maternity shoot with Stephanie from Lemonade Stand Photography. We took the pictures on a gorgeous fall day when I was 36 weeks pregnant and the light was just perfect. I am so glad we were able to document this very special time in our lives and couldn’t be happier on how they turned out. If you are in the Chicagoland area and looking for a great family photographer, be sure to give Stephanie a call:)
The 38 week mark has come and gone and we are anxiously awaiting our little bundle of joy. I haven’t wanted to purchase many fall maternity clothes since I won’t be pregnant for the whole season so I was so excited when the very helpful sales girl at Nordstrom took me around to find some pregnancy friendly clothing. This Free People top is great for covering the bump now, but will be even better in the future with leather leggings and a pair of heels. She also recommended this Bobeau sweater that I have been living in and will be perfect for nursing along with this Caslon zip sweater. Hopefully my next post will feature an adorable baby boy:)

Once we found out we were expecting a little one, we decided that it was time to turn our unused basement into a playroom and extra living area. After spending hours searching Houzz for inspiration, we knew that we wanted the space to be bright, eclectic, and most of all fun:) It all started with this wallpaper (pictures below), which led to choosing Poppy Red by Valspar to really make the space pop! The living room half of the basement is made up furniture from Ikea, a vintage chair, and a bold striped rug. I am really loving how the pillows bring it all together, especially the Happy Home one from Tiny Prints (who knew they had home decor?!?). The other half of the basement has been left relatively empty because it will soon be cluttered with toys and baby gear, but we can’t to fill up the bookshelf and watch Baby B draw on the chalk wall. We are really looking forward to putting this brand new space to good use!

Ever since we found out we were having a baby boy, I have wanted to stay away from “traditional” boy themes (baby blue, bears, and sports). For our Chicago couples shower, we went with a color scheme of mint, gold, gray, and neon yellow. Our super adorable cake was from Alliance Bakery and the flowers were from Steve’s Flower Market. My sister-in-law suggested that we have a taquiza (which I had never heard of before), but it was an amazing idea. Taqueria Don Robe brought in everything- including the grill and the food was fantastic! It was an amazing day filled with lots of love:) We can’t wait to meet this little one soon.Invite from Minted
With only 6 weeks until Baby Boy Barriga’s arrival, I thought I would share pictures from my baby shower my mom threw me in Michigan. I was so happy my besties from Ohio could make it up for the weekend- it had been way too long since I saw them! This lil’ man was showered with so much love and came out with some adorable homemade onesies. I will be sharing photos from our Chicago shower later this week:)

Since the temps in Chicago are still in the 80’s, I can’t fully dive into fall fashion- but I couldn’t resist putting on my brand new Sole Society booties. Paired with a radiant orchid dress and a fresh new shorter haircut, it feels like Fall is just around the corner!
